In a bright spring sunset, the City of Light flickered all at once as a wave of energy swept the nation, frying electronics and bursting telescreens in a single, deafening roar of shattered glass. Those who found themselves near the Eiffel Tower saw, if only for a moment, a jagged ray of blue light cleave the sky as the EMP ran through the streets. However, the city saw itself under the light soon after and the media would hurry to report the event as a “failed terrorist attack, despite the casualties”.  However, the surviving devices housed a strange new feature: an empty database access of some sorts, tinted the same color as the mysterious beam of light. There are few reports of the strange creatures and the people who fought them around the Tower, but the few survivors report a state of complete chaos, lumbering beings pouring down from atop the tower and mysterious men in gray robes circling the area.
PEACEFUL DAYS ARE OVER. LET’S SURVIVE.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Fri Mar 03, 2017 6:17 pm

"Beautiful day, isn't it, cherie?", a human spoke softly as she walked through the door and into the balcony where a pure white Icarii nodded, raising a cocoon-shaped infuser from a porcelain cup.
"It's wonderful to be finally out of the cold." Sarynna replied, her black eyes reflecting the countless lights and the shining sunset beyond the horizon. "Did you get that new phone you wanted?", she sipped once, adding a cube of sugar as the other replied. "They were all out, can you believe it? Damned thing has been out for a week and they're still under stocked... Huh, is the tower supposed to shine that much?"
The Moth's eyes shut as a sky-blue ray seemed to overtake the peaceful scenery and the noise of a hundred radios tuning into static filled the air. The commotion was immediate: cars slamming brakes, people calling out for relatives, a few loud complaints, a sea of noises filled the street. However, even in the chaos, Saryn could feel her bracelet hum slightly, as if she'd been messaged.
"That does not sound right. I'll go check on Miss Simone."
"I'll go, I know these streets better than you." The human put herself between the door and the Icarii, her short stature betraying her brave stance. Saryn smiled gently, drawing closer and running a hand gently down the other's cheek, her smile growing more mischievous as the girl winced and squinted, the small amount of prepared toxin already running up her skin. "Gosse..." she muttered as the Moth left, bringing up the UI on the bracelet to draw her a route to Miss Simone. It refused to cooperate, opting instead to flicker and bring up the latest notification:
D.D.S.E. v0.8. THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING PRISMCORP.

The motorcycle screeched to a halt as Arina was thrown forward barely hanging on, her weight contributing to the bike smashing the rear bumper of the sedan in front of her. She pulled her helmet off as the driver in front of her yelled in thick French. "Stuff it, asshole, get moving!" was her only reply as she tried seeing what the commotion was ahead of her. It seemed like the anti-techies were at it again, blocking roads and slipping fliers to unsuspecting commuters. The man in the sedan screamed some general obscenity about the girl's dress, or lack thereof. Arina dismounted the bike and her oversized gauntlet found the dented bumper, tearing it unceremoniously as she threw it to the nearby river. The man's rage reached a crescendo as he frantically dug around the vehicle for his phone, threatening her with the police. She muted the song playing from the gauntlet's onboard computer as she approached a protester wearing their signature purple shirts.
"What's it take for a girl to get through the little commotion you guys have here? I need a few new parts back at base, y'know?"
"Wait, I recognize that arm, from the news! You're "Comtesse Bardeaux", aren't you?! T-though we do appreciate your... technology reclaiming and re-purposing work, we can't let anyone through, we are sending a message here." The girl drew closer, the gauntlet on her arm sighing as the pistons came to life.
"Listen Bozo, if you don't make way real soon I'm gonna shove this gauntlet so far up-- The speakers on the gauntlet let off a vile screech as something far ahead of them seemed to drain the lights from the entire city for a split second, focusing a fractured beam of pure brightness towards the sky. The man in purple took the chance to scatter with the rest of his crew as people left their cars and loudly expressed their confusion, gesturing uselessly towards their portable devices.
A crackly, distorted voice spoke to Arina from the gauntlet as she jumped back on her motorcycle and kicked it to life, skirting between cars and onto the sidewalk to draw closer to where the flash came from. A commotion like that was something the Harpy simply had to see firsthand.
The voice said, plainly: "Installation complete. PrismCorp appreciates your coopeartion."

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Vatusia Fri Mar 03, 2017 6:21 pm

Emotionless teal eyes scanned the crowds lingering around the indoor market. There would surely be more markets now that the weather in Paris was starting to warm up with the spring. But none of that mattered to Miles. The Super-Human was after one thing and one thing alone. Food. With all of these people around, stuff was left around carelessly, which both disgusted and pleased the teenage. Everything that was left around was his for the taking. People didn’t even bother to really look at the homeless boy for more than a few moments. The eyes that lingered always either had disgust or pity, neither of which Miles really bothered to pay attention to. So as the slim boy picked his way through the market, he almost failed to notice how people were starting to slowly stream outside. It wasn’t until Miles had his hands on an abandoned bag that he noticed how few people were actually left in the market. Even the vendors had started to leave their stalls to go see what was happening outside.
Curious, Miles gathered a few more bags up before heading towards the maintenance stairs of the building. Once he neared the roof, he almost dropped his nicked knick knacks. Something odd was going on with the Eiffel Tower. He couldn’t describe exactly what, but something was certainly wrong. The teen was just about to head back into the market to go seek shelter underground when everything went too bright. Miles let out a wordless shriek before falling backwards onto the roof. Whatever had just happened couldn’t bode well at all. And just to make sure that feeling was engraved in stone, one of the bags lit up. Miles dug through the bag, hoping it would be some kind of news update playing on the arm tablet thing someone had apparently just left lying in their bag. “People are stupid,” Miles whispered as he put on the armbands. The screen lit up as he finished the buckle, the only words on the screen ‘PrismCorp thanks you for your download’.

- - - - - - - - - -
“I have no idea what it is you’re looking for, but you came to the wrong place cher. Now how’s about you get along?” Blue-green eyes rolled dramatically at the Human’s words. Obviously they though the Mammalian in front of them was just another Human who had wandered into the wrong back alley. Kai wasn’t particularly keen on correcting that statement, but there was no way ne was going to leave. Not without getting the information ne was looking for. “You are Isabelle right?” Kai stalked forward as ne asked the question, already knowing who the woman was. Along with the women behind her. “You have information I need. Now I’m willing to pay you for your knowledge or I can take my time extracting it from you. And before you even think of having the person behind me jump me, you might want to consider that I’m and Icarii instead of Human,” the words themselves were soft, but they tore through the air. Isabelle smirked knowingly, waving her hand before settling down on a crate like it was her throne.
“Speak and you shall be heard, merc,” the last word was spat out, but that didn’t phase the wolf. Whatever reaction the Human was hoping to get, she wouldn’t. Kai pulled out nir necklace and put nir thumb to what looked to be a piece of stainless steel. A second later the phone in the Mammalians hand lit up. The silver haired wolf forwarded the now unlocked information to Isabelle. “Everything you have on that. You can send it to the same address you just got it from,” the words were thrown over a shoulder as Kai headed back the way ne came, pausing only briefly to stare up at the Eiffel Tower. It was as ne was walking back onto the main streets that the EMP hit, frying the screens that lined the other side of the street. Kai quickly unlocked the storage device ne had, the screen lighting up. But instead of the files that ne was expecting, the screen lit up with the words ‘Download has been completed, thank you for choosing PrismCorp!’

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Fri Mar 03, 2017 6:26 pm

"Excuse me... Ah, please, I really am in a hurry..." The words streamed out of Sarynn's mouth as a river as she navigated the disorganized crowd around her. Some ran away from the tower, stumbling over each other while a counter-current pushed them back, eyes glued to the few surviving electronic devices around them. The girl sighed, dreading the attention she could draw to herself as she grabbed onto a streetlamp and kicked off it, spreading her flowing wings to glide over the crowd, her wingspan covering most of the narrow alley. Some citizens, unused to the Icarii, ducked away from the growing shadow cast over them as the girl ascended and descended, her Insect wings unable to take her as far as other breeds. It was an exhausting ordeal but Sarynn could spend the entire evening trying to push through the crowd. She shook her wrist, calling the bracelet device to life. "Navigation, please connect to Ms. Simone's device." The screen went dark and flickered blue for a few seconds before setting a way point that seemed to wander up and down the plaza around the Eiffel Tower. It was unusual for Ms. Simone to be wandering about in this commotion but perhaps the stores she would take shelter in were full already. She descended one last time as the streets widened out of the last bottleneck to the eye of the storm.

Arina screamed obscenities at nothing in particular as her bike left the pavement and roared into the sidewalk and winding pathways of Paris. Her head had mostly blocked out the constant ring of her horn as people leaped out of her way and into buildings, grasping shopping bags and purses to their bodies like they would save them from the tan feathered menace that sped ever closer to the Tower. A particularly slow old man forced Arina to steer suddenly to the side and into the miniature fence protecting an old tree. The front tire dug unto the triangular spearheads and burst loudly, sending the bike on a sinuous path towards a dead end. With the last of her control over the vehicle, she yanked the bar to the right and threw herself to the left, avoiding a distracted Icarii by no more than a few inches on either side.
The harpy fell ungracefully, tumbling over herself as her gauntlet threw sparks to the air as it scratched the sidewalk. Her sliding tumble came to an end, aided by a wall, and she threw herself to her feet and regained her balance, dusting her scratched, exposed upper body clean as she picked up the jacket from the floor and re-attached it to herself. After a few seconds of ensuring all her bones were in the correct spot, she turned to the Mamallian in front of her, offering an apologetic smile. "Oi! Not too often I see other Icas around. You seem awfully distant, is something wrong? ... Besides almost being run over, vou savez"

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Vatusia Fri Mar 03, 2017 6:32 pm

Miles cursed again and again as he reread the words on the screen. What exactly was happening with everything? A, very stolen, computer had just downloaded something that he was sure it wasn’t supposed to, the Eiffel Tower had become a miniature star for a second, and people in the street and market below were starting to panic, some screaming at their devices. Miles looked towards the Tower again, wondering what had happened and how it could possibly all be related. It didn’t take long for the boy to decide to look in the bags and run, not sure what was happening but knowing he wanted nothing to do with any of it. Bright lights in the sky that were not normally there seemed like it would be bad for his health. He found two new game systems, which he tossed aside, a blue canvas jacket which he immediately threw on, a pack of duct tape, which he kept in the bag and put to the side, a bag full of makeup, which he tossed towards the game systems, and what looked to be a small radio, which he stuck in with the duct tape. Grabbing the radio and duct tape, Miles began running towards the stairs, not sure where he wanted to go, but that he wanted to get away from where the light had been and away from the panicking people.

It seemed however that the people in the street had other ideas. With half the crowds now moving away from the Tower, half were heading towards it. Which was a stupid thing in Miles’ mind. That was probably where the danger was, so why would you go looking for it? However with his wonderful luck, he ended up in the stream of people heading towards the Tower. Knowing it was all but useless to fight against a crowd of people, Miles looked for some side alley or path that he could navigate towards and hopefully double back and get away. Hopefully before they reached the possible danger.

Just as the Mammalian was making sure that no information had been lost from the storage pendant, another Icarii, Avian by the smell that passed, nearly ran into the wolf. Kai stared over at the Harpy, who was making sure she was alright. Then asked if something was wrong, as if an EMP hadn’t just detonated above the Eiffel Tower. “I’m fine. I didn’t just fall off a bicycle,” the words were mostly absent of emotion, but Kai couldn’t help the notes of concern that leaked into the last part of her sentence. The wolf could remember too many times her siblings had fallen off of things and the wounds they would incur. But this wasn’t the place for memories. Kai took in a deep breath and looked up towards where the bring light had been and then started off down the side streets of Paris. Kai called back only a few words to the Harpy, “if you’re going to the Tower, you’d better keep up.” With that the wolf took off at a trot, pushing through stunned citizens where necessary, simply skating around them when possible. It would take a good ten minutes before ne got there, but Kai needed to know what had happened. Good jobs always did present themselves at the strangest of times.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Fri Mar 03, 2017 6:33 pm

Sarynn hoped the crowd would disperse, or at least stop moving, as she approached the plaza, panting and leaning against the wall. The noise was overwhelming and seemed like there was a major brawl all around her. The Moth looked up, her vision focusing towards the mishappen forms over and around the crowd. She raised her bangle to eye level: the location bead pointed decidedly towards a tall figure with its back turned to her, a pair of metallic silver wings gently shimmering in the wind. She approached slowly, grasping for balance as she slipped on a puddle of thick red liquid. She had no time to register the arm laying in the corner of the pool.

The creature's wings spread as it turned around and lightning crashed around it, creating a clearing around them. Its body was golden and shining as it floated a foot off the ground, small gears visibly ticking behind its exposed joints. Its face was stern but beautiful and a green cloth was draped over its torso and legs, decorated with a red cross. Its lips didn't move as it speak and at first its voice was nothing more than a booming, echoed roar. The bangle beeped to life before the voice seemed clearer.

WHAT DOST THOU DESIRE, CHILD OF MAN? SPEAK, FOR THOU ART WORTHY.
Sarynn flinched at the imposing voice, looking for help around her. Unfortunately the crowd had scattered around her, some busy with their own mysterious creatures. "What in the world are you?! And where's lady Simone?"
I AM SANDALPHON. PROVE THYSELF WORTHY OR DISAPPEAR.
The creature's eyes shone white as a bolt of electricity struck her. She expected the bolt to knock her out cold but something seemed to hold the brunt of the attack back, only filling her body with a warm, unpleasant tingling. She readied herself, the black thorns on her arms poking through the fuzz. "Fine!" She leapt at the creature, grazing its arms with the toxic appendages.
--------------------------------
"Keep up? I may be bleeding but I'm not crippled, puppy! ...Merde, definitely bleeding. Screw it, I'll be fine!" Anira's bravado cracked and she analyzed the cut along her outer thigh, grunting as she ran, matching the Mamallian's pace as closely as possible. The oversized gauntlet was swinging along before the Harpy pulled it forward, swinging widely as a forewarning for people to leave their path.
"Anira, by the by. What's the hurry?" Keeping a conversation wasn't the easiest thing in the world in that situation but if she had just found a friendly Icarii, possibly a recruit to the Boneyard, she couldn't pass the opportunity. They reached the plaza after a few minutes of shoving swathes of civilians away. Littered around the plaza were figures of all sizes and shapes, some lumbering masses of ooze, some perverse winged monsters and some things that defied explaining. Some were actively engaging each other while others pounced at humans, blood, fire and ice flying around them. A roar caught her attention, moving her sight to a grotesque being: the large golden head and front legs of a lion resting on the body of a gigantic black ant. It circled Anira slowly, a thick saliva dripping out of its large mouth.
ME MYRMECOLEON. ME AWAKE. ME FIGHT SMALL MORTAL!
The demon punctuated his battlecry with a deafening roar as it stood on its insect legs, imposing its impossible figure over the two Icarii. Anira's eyes widened and a sharp smile covered her face. She tried matching his roar with a rough yawp and she sprinted towards the creature, connecting a powerful blow with her gauntlet against its black abdomen. The creature collapsed with a surprised chortle as it entered a battle stance, ready to pounce the crouching, hissing Harpy.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Vatusia Fri Mar 03, 2017 6:34 pm

As the crowds drew ever closer to plaza, they started splitting apart, running any way that they could. Miles broke off from the crowd as soon as he could, sprinting for an alleyway that should lead away from the Tower. Hopefully. The superhuman practically threw himself into the alley, getting away from the majority of the people now in full blown panic mode. Once there, Miles took a few seconds to catch his breath and stare at the plaza and the very inhuman shapes that dotted the once peaceful area. Now it was all chaos and blood. Which meant it was really time to get out of there.

Just as Miles turned away from the horror movie in the making, he felt something grab him by his shoulder and upper arm and lift. Miles let out a wordless screech as the ground beneath him became further away then the Superhuman would like. As he got lifted further and further up, Miles struggled against whatever it was that was holding him, seeing only what appeared to be a monkey butt. Whatever the scientists that had cooked up the Icarii had made this time, they had gone too far. “Put me down!” Miles screamed as he brought up his other hand to try and pry himself loose. They were only a two or so stories up, so while the fall would hurt, it wouldn’t be fatal.
YOU COME WITH JUEYUAN. JUEYUAN TAKE YOU AS WIFE. PROTECT PRETTY LADY.
“Oh HELL NO,” the words were ridiculously loud, even to Miles ears, but it must have startled the rape monkey enough for him to drop the Superhuman. Miles hit the pavement hard, the wind getting knocked out of his chest before he managed to look up to where the rape monkey was. It was descending quickly, apparently set on taking the male as his wife. “You want me, you’re gonna have to kill me first!” The monster roared at him, before letting go of the buildings and plummeting straight towards the blue haired boy. This monkey was going to pay for mistaking him as a female.

- - - - - - - -
As the Harpy continued to keep pace with nir, Kai turned slightly to answer the question that had been posed. “If something went wrong, there will be people who need help,” Kai tossed back towards Anira, not bothering to slow down. As they got closer to the plaza, the Mammalian put on some extra speed, already scenting blood and burning flesh in the air. Whatever was happening in the plaza, it certainly wasn’t good. Kai sped past a group of fleeing Humans, stopping just short of the exit of the street. The scent was nearly overpowering, the screams deafening, and things, not Human or Icarii, were lurking in the open plaza. Kai took only a second to pull nirself together before charging into the plaza.

It was so much worse than what Kai could have heard or smelt before hand. Humans and Icarii alike were getting slaughtered by the monsters, the only word that Kai could find that accurately described the very different entities. Overwhelmed for a brief few moments, Kai nearly got knocked over by a sudden gust of wind. Kai snarled when the wind, which seemed to have a mind of it’s own, started pushing in the opposite direction from where it had started. The wind suddenly let up after pushing the Mammalian a good few meters away from where ne had been standing.
Protect the child, Wolf. Then the Winds will be at your side.
Kai turned a full three hundred and sixty degrees looking for the source of the voice. Ne couldn’t find anyone close enough to have been the voice, which set Kai even more on edge. Whatever was hap the citizens of Paris. Kai was about to give up and go find the Harpy when ne spotted a boy, who couldn’t have been over the age of six, running, more like tottering, away from a woman. The unusual thing was the woman was completely unclothed and had roses and vines winding around her body.
COME HERE LITTLE CHILD. YOUR BLOOD WILL BE ESPECIALLY SWEET!
As soon as the words were out of the monsters mouth, Kai was racing towards the child, who was still trying his best to totter away from the rose covered lady. Once Kai had the boy in nir arms, ne started sprinting away, an outraged cry coming from the monster as they left it behind. "I've got you, we’ll be safe.”

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Fri Mar 03, 2017 6:34 pm

The dark talons across Sarynn's arms seemed to open a sizable tear along the torso of the flying creature from where a gentle light streamed out. She landed on its side, readying another attack. Sandalphon raised both its hands, its eyes turning into beacons aimed skyward as a circle of white lines drew itself under her feet, the word HANMA slipping from its lips as light poured from between the lines. She stumbled backwards as the light became an opaque pillar of colors. The tip of one of her wings was still over the circle and she watched the pillar burn it off cleanly but painfully, landing on her behind. The angel wasted no time in landing and picking her up by the neck, raising her towards the sunset-bleached sky. Its touch felt like hot porcelain as he took off, his cruel eyes fixated on the sky. "SHALL THEE STRUGGLE STILL, EVEN FACING OBLIVION?" She clawed frantically at the creature, the world spinning around her until her fingers found a crevice, the inside warm and slippery to the touch: the cut caused by her attack. She pushed her hand in and the bangle on her wrist burst into life with a series of loud distorted noises. The creature cried out, flailing uselessly as its wings faded away, followed by its limbs and finally it was entirely gone in a cloud of blue smoke. Sarynn could not stabilize herself before she hit the ground, stumbling blindly and lying on her stomach, too exhausted to realize the bangle was still active.

Anira protected herself against the Myrmecoleon's charge with her gauntlet, the force behind its slender black legs pushing the girl back a few paces. The creature roared as Anira grabbed its face with the gauntlet, keeping its mouth away from her flesh as she repeatedly punched the creature's face with her free hand. The creature yanked itself free, hitting the Harpy with a heavy strike from its paw, knocking the wind out of Anira. The creature pounced again, biting down on her shoulder. The demon's saliva felt like hot sauce running into the wound and it made her reel back before grabbing its midsection and pushing back, struggling to push the creature off. It refused to budge and instead pushed back, trying to force Anira against a wall. The power struggle made the creature's teeth dig deeper into her shoulder and she felt the large canine grind painfully against her collarbone as it went in. Her resolve seemed to wane for a second, the pain become overwhelming. She shifted to the side suddenly, making the creature lose its balance. With one step forward, she'd put her knees in the ideal position to shift her grab closer to the lion part of the creature, her fingers tearing tufts of golden hair before finding a grip.
The gauntlet clicked and hissed with stress as she pushed forward and upwards, her unequipped arm trembling as she lifted the creature slowly above her head, forcing the creature to release her shoulder, its mouth dripping red. She stepped forward slowly, her eyes shining with evil intent as she noticed a black, jagged spike of metal where a light post used to be. She took another grueling step and swung her entire weight forward, slamming the creature's abdomen through the spear. It let out a pained yelp as its legs flailed and shrivelled back against its body, slowly fading into a wisp of smoke. Souveraineté shrieked at her as she sat down against a short wall, the side of her body covered in warm crimson. Even then she laughed triumphantly, gazing towards the Tower.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

The monkey hit the pavement just as hard as Miles had, but landed on its feet. Miles scrambled up quickly, putting his back to the alley wall to support himself as oxygen rushed back into his chest. It seemed like Jueyuan, if that really was the rape monkey’s name, wasn’t going to give the Superhuman the time to get his bearings. It rushed him in a matter of seconds, making Miles regret his decision to lean against the wall. Now he was between a rushing monkey and a rather hard wall. And gymnastics had never been Miles’ strong suit. Miles pushed himself to the side once he felt the monkey was too close, making it far enough away to avoid the impact Jueyuan made with the wall. The resulting dust from the impact was enough to temporarily blind Miles. However it took only a second for the Superhuman to get back to his feet. Luck wasn’t on his side though as a large hand flew out and caught Miles around his thigh, pulling him back down and towards the monkey. Both combatants let out a scream, one much higher pitched than the other.
PRETTY LADY STOP FIGHTING JUEYUAN!
Miles kicked out with his free foot, managing to hit his knee and shin on the wall. Sharp, intense pain lanced up Miles’ leg, causing him to scream out in pain. Another hand wrapped around Miles’ hip, putting enough pressure to immobilize his free leg. Miles used Jueyuan’s hold on his lower half to stabilize his torso enough that he could land some hits on the strange face of the monster. That seemed enough for the monkey to let him go. Miles landed hard on his back, scrambling backwards as fast as he could before he could get grabbed again.
WHY WON’T PRETTY LADY LET JUEYUAN PROTECT HER?! JUEYUAN A WONDERFUL HUSBAND!
Now was one of those times that Miles supposed he was actually capable of some emotion, with the rage filling up his stomach as the monkey once again called him female. “I don’t need your protection, I’m not female!” The words seemed to ricochet off the alley walls and into the monkey’s soul, because Jueyuan just stopped. All was quiet between the two before Jueyuan suddenly started screaming and, strangely enough, disappearing slowly.
PRETTY LADY DOESN’T NEED PROTECTION! JUEYUAN FOLLOW PRETTY LADY!
As the large ape like creature finished disappearing, the stolen arm panel lighting up. “You have to be kidding…”

The child in Kai’s arms wailed as the Mammalian sprinted across the plaza, trying to find an alley or some way out of the the plaza. Ne could hear the footsteps of the rose lady following not far behind. Thankfully the child wasn’t squirming, which made it easier for Kai to duck around people and things. “Once I set you down, I want you to run as fast as you can.” The words felt whipped from the wolf’s mouth, but ne saw the child nod. After what seemed like forever, an opening in the plaza appeared. Kai made a hard turn, affording nir a view of the rose lady.

Who was much closer than was comfortable. A colorful string of curses later, Kai was practically shoving the child down an alley. The naked lady slammed into the wolf mammalian just as the child disappeared into the crowd. Kai pushed back against the force at nir back, holding back the predator from the civilians rushing away. It wasn’t long before she turned her attention on the person in her path though. A hand shot out to the back of Kai’s neck, gripping tightly as the Mammalian was thrown a good metre. The pavement bit into Kai’s arms as ne fought to right nimself, trying to get an eye on where the threat was. The threat was charging towards nir. Kai let out a few more curses, before sprinting off towards an area that was mildly unoccupied of living creatures. MARIN KARIN! Kai had just cleared the people before ne felt something hit nir in the back. Why was ne running again? Kai turned to the lady and smiled wide, walking towards what could only be described as the most beautiful woman in existence. "YES COME TO ME. LET ME DRINK FROM YOU!" Kai nodded, blissed out as ne shuffled towards the rose lady.
ELEMENTAL SYLPH REGISTERED. SUMMONING ACTIVATED.
A bright light quickly blinded the Wolf and the lady screeched, sending shivers down Kai’s spine. The light was just starting to fade when another voice came in. “You did well, Wolf. Now let me assist you. ZANMA!” Another loud screech broke through the blindness that had engulfed Kai. When Kai’s vision finally cleared enough to see, where the thorn lady had been was what appeared to be a female human, whose image was flickering with the wind. “Nice to meet you, Wolf. I look forward to working with you.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Tue Jul 11, 2017 6:11 pm

Anira's triumphant smile failed as her eyes weighed into closing, a numb drowsiness spreading through her body. She could simply lay there for a while to bask in the glory and she would be good to go in no time. The battle raging around her started sounding more distant but a nagging,
high-pitched noise kept pulling her away from sleep.
"Comtesse... Comtesse!", she opened one eye to see Ferdinand, his slender arms shaking the Harpy from side to side. He turned his face to the side and called out for someone as another Icarii approached. "We saw the fight. Hang in there, we're gonna get you fixed up." The second icarii, a male Owl Tengu of beady eyes and a deep voice started exchanging questions with the otter in fast French and suddenly tore the sleeve off his black shirt, putting it around her wound. The two helped stand her up before a lithe Rabbit Icarii, also flying the Boneyard's colors, crashed into them, a small, yukata-clad creature flying around him, punching with her small fists as she complained about not wanting to share a COMP with stupid, smelly Garms. The Rabbit pushed the creature off himself and hit a key on his laptop, making the small demon stretch its arms skyward and call out DIA. A wave of energy washed over Anira's body and the bleeding seemed to decrease slightly. She pushed the overprotective mooks off her and tested the response on her gauntlet. Completely cold. She clicked her tongue.
"Alright boys! Paris is crawling with these messed up demons. If you beat them, I guess you can use them and they pack a hell of a punch. If I see one of you losers slacking off in getting your own demon, I'll take you to Hell myself! Get out there!" The confused Icarii cheered and scattered, the Rabbit hurrying to dismiss his grumpy companion. She started walking down the street, avoiding the remaining creatures and leaning against the wall, dragging her gauntlet behind her. It wasn't long before an unnatural breeze ruffled her feathers. She looked up to find the canine from before,
covered in a light green hurricane, facing off against some weird flower lady. "Hey, chiot! Need some help with your gardening?!" she called out with a cocky grin, adrenaline starting to pump back into her body.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sarynn got up slowly, the horizon spinning around her.
She summoned the bangle projector to life, no longer finding the old lady's beacon. The crowd had cleared out considerably, most of them scattered through the blood-painted floor, but the demons still ran rampant, an amorphous red blob quickly approaching her. "YyyYyOuUu AaaRe WeeEeAaak, mEee eAaat yOUUuu uUup!.
The girl stumbled out of its way, too tired to fight back until the bangle's message came back to her. "Summoning, huh? C-come, Sandalphon!" she called out, unsure about the creature's disposition once it was out. The blob expanded, trying to swallow her whole. A blast of green light came before her as a voice cried out AGILAO plainly but firmly. A pillar of flame erupted from the ground, making the surface of the demon's skin bubble and evaporate as it gave out a distorted screech. The angel turned to face Sarynn, without a word. "You're not going to go back to that 'facing oblivion' thing?" Sandalphon shook its head at her words. "WE ART NOW BOUND BY CONTRACT, CHILD OF MAN. LEAD.". The moth blinked slowly, thrown off. "Well then... Come, let's get out of here."
She wandered around the plaza, trying to avoid confrontation before slipping into an alleyway she deemed empty until her eyes met with a tired-looking Icarii. She waved slowly, gauging for a reaction. The angel's wings stirred slightly but the girl turned her hand to the demon,
motioning it to the floor. "Stand down, Sandalphon. I'm Sarynn, what's your name?"

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Vatusia Thu Jul 20, 2017 1:55 pm

Miles had just been wrapping his head around how Jueyuan had somehow ended up in the stolen wearable tablet. Then a very armored angel looking monster showed up with a moth Icarii. Who then proceeded to tell the angel thing, called Sandal something, and asked his name. The Super-Human just stared for a few seconds, before completely collapsing to the ground, spreading his tired limbs. “I’m Miles,” the words were gasped out as the homeless boy took quick breaths. Fighting against the giant rape monkey took more out of his already nonexistent energy then Miles would have liked. He would need to find food soon. Hopefully something not thrown away. It didn’t take more than an extra minute for Miles to sit up, turning his body to face the Icarii and angel thing. A few more seconds of staring them both down and Miles decided that the situation with monsters roaming about outweighed his suspicions of the duo. “We need to get out of here. There are more of those things and I barely survived the first fight I had with one.” Miles stood up fully as he spoke the words, grabbing his discarded bag and heading down the alley away from the main street. Who knew what else was out there. Miles didn’t really want to find out either.

Gardening? The Harpy really was insane if she considered this to be gardening. Then again, Kai had met stranger people. “If you're willing to lend your hand, then sure,” the words came out flat, but the glint in Kai’s eyes spoke of something darker. Whatever affect the rose lady had had on Kai had worn off and now that the blood drinking rose was out-numbered, Kai liked their odds of beating her. The wolf immediately charged forward as the rose lady turned to look at the new arrival, swinging hard to hit a shoulder. If Kai could do enough damage to the joint, then maybe it would dislocate. But at the last second she turned around, causing the blow to only do some of the damage intended and sending Kai to the ground. Ne hissed as the pavement bit into skin, flipping as quickly as possible to face the threat. “MAZAN!” What looked to be a small whirlwind hit the rose lady, stinging Kai’s eyes in the process. “Be more careful Master,” Sylph whispered into Kai’s ear, though she was still on the other side of the other monster. Kai slowly got to nir feet, wincing as ne did so. “Okay, let’s do this!”

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Mon Aug 07, 2017 11:09 am

Arina fumbled with the gauntlet before tugging on the belts that strapped it to her arm, detaching it for the time being. That was apparently long enough for the puppy to throw himself at the demon, missing spectacularly. She turned to the disabled gauntlet and planted a firm kick to the larger plate. It whirred softly as it booted on for a moment, casting a cloud of green light to the side. From the mist the creature from before burst forth, seemingly recovering from its wounds. It roared for a moment before seeing the Harpy and lowering its head, the sudden whirlwind raising its mane.
"I think this is as much of a hand as that hand's giving us, Chiot!" Anira planted a foot on the demon's midsection, asserting its dominance as she'd read animals would. The creature let out a half-chortle, half-growl, more noise than words.
MYRMECOLEON GET PUN. IS GOOD JOKE.
"Get that walking rosebush already, useless fourmi!"
Anira raised her foot and charged towards the rose, hoping she would be too distracted to fight back. Myrmecoleon leapt and caught a mouthful of thorny vines, holding the demon in place for Anira to deliver a kick to its stomach. It turned towards her with a screech and lashed out, casting a rain of thorns towards her. Anira held her arms over her head and stepped back. She tried locating the canine, calling him out. "It's your chance, Chiot, come on!"

Sarynn chased the boy up and down the twisting crimson-soaked streets, forcing Sandalphon back into containment as its wings scraped the sides of buildings, letting out a high pitched screech that would scare people away as effectively as it would draw in unwanted attention.
"Miles... Are we sure we're heading the right way? We could always go back to my apartment but-- Careful!" She grabbed his wrist and held him back as she saw the glint of a blade crossing their path and three more in its wake. Its wielder was a dark-skinned woman, well over seven feet tall, two pairs of powerful arms swinging on her sides, her malicious, wide smile framed by a wiry head of hair decorated with fresh human skulls. It looked into their dark alleyway but seemed to either not see them or disregard their presence entirely before moving on. The moth pointed at her bangle, displaying her demon's image and pointed at the boy inquisitively, unwilling to bring more attention to themselves by speaking out.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Vatusia Tue Aug 15, 2017 12:30 pm

The sound of Sandal-whatever’s wings hitting the sides of the alley made Miles wince in pain. That was a sound he never needed in his head. Ever. However, thankfully, Sarynn put him away. However that worked. They continued on for a bit before she started questioning if they were heading the right way. Rightly so, considering Miles had no idea where the alley would lead or if it was away from the mess that the Eiffel Tower had become. But then she grabbed on to him. Miles nearly turned on the insect, ready for another fight to get away. Then he saw the huge blades and the creature that followed. He swallowed the sudden lump in his throat as the creepy giantess stared into their alley, at them. When Sarynn pointed at her bangle, Miles was briefly confused. It took a few seconds for him to notice the picture of the giant winged thing from earlier. Did she want to fight? Should they fight? Jueyuan had taken a lot to get him to go away. A normal human wouldn’t have been able to deal with the monsters that were everywhere.

With a sigh, Miles nodded. The super-human pressed his fingers to the tablet, tapping at anything that seemed relevant. After what seemed like forever of just tapping away at the stupid piece of technology, a green mist formed. Seconds later, Jueyuan was standing there. “PRETTY LADY SUMMON JUEYUAN! NEED JUEYUAN!” The words were entirely too loud for the quiet they had self-imposed. Miles quickly shushed the giant rape monkey, giving Sarynn what he hoped was an apologetic look. His next words were barely more than breath, but he dare not risk anything louder. “Now what?”

It took all of Kai’s control to not roll nir eyes at the pun. Puns, now of all times? Instead, ne shook nir head. The strange bug lion seemed to like the pun though. As soon as they were out of danger, Kai was going to analyze just how weird things had suddenly become. For now, they had a rose lady to deal with. Kai circled back towards were Sylph was still floating, hoping to see an opening. Anira and her bug lion charged the rose lady, the bug trapping her and the Harpy delivering a rather impressive kick to her midsection. It didn’t take a genius to realize this was the opening ne had been hoping for. Kai smirked briefly before charging again. Ne heard a ZAN somewhere from where ne thought Sylph was. A green wispy light shot past the wolf, hitting the rose lady square in the middle of her back. She screeched again, causing Kai to wince and falter briefly. Damn sensitive hearing. The Mammalian charged again, aiming a kick to her legs. Hopefully that would knock the creature down.

And what a blow it was. With a loud thud, the rose lady hit the ground, suspended only by the bug lion’s jaws. She let out another horrid scream, though this one trailed off. Kai stood over the creature, emotionless eyes looking down. “CURSE YOU AND ALL YOURS!” Kai’s eyes narrowed at the hissed words. The wolf had never responded to threats well and this was no exception. Ne raised a booted foot and brought it down hard on her head. There was a sickening crunch that seemed to echo. The rose lady was finally still. “Never threaten someone who has the upper hand,” the words were barely audible. Kai looked over to the harpy, then around at the rest of the plaza. There was still so much carnage. Even now, in the faded light, Kai could see corpses, Icarii, Human and other. Whatever was happening, it was just beginning.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Thu Nov 30, 2017 8:07 am

Arina let out a triumphant cackle as she put her arm around the chiot's shoulders. "Not half bad! I don't know about you but I'm about ready for a meal, I know just the place. Unless you have a date with... whatever the juste ciel that is!" She mocked, pointing towards what seemed to be a green straw midget throwing punches in every direction, being avoided by even the duller-brained demons. Anira moved to retrieve her gauntlet, shooing a diminutive blue fairy who was doing her best to raise it off the floor. She strapped the machine firmly back onto her arm and tapped a few buttons, getting nothing but a sad whir in response. Myrmecoleon drew closer, licking a nearby puddle of dark liquid. It looked at Anira like a recently-adopted, oversized dog. She considered, for more than a moment, to wipe that pitiful look off its face but decided instead to pet his mane with the gauntlet, incidentally pulling him back into the computer. She called Kai over, slipping into an alley, a few paces behind a sword-wielding giantess.

Sarynn put a hand over her mouth and  let out a soft giggle at the clumsy, hairy being the other Icarii had materalized. "Jueyuan, was it? We can agree on the "pretty" part but... lady?" She turned her gaze to Miles, mildly apologetic before regaining her composure. "Honestly I don't think we can take on that thing for now, I'd much rather go home..." The moth's eyes widened as a tan, mostly naked Harpy walked down the same alley as the demon. The female was soaked in sweat and blood, an improvised bandage wrapped around her shoulder. Sarynn couldn't imagine the extent of the wound on her shoulder if that was what she decided to treat instead of the punctures on her forearms, the jagged cut down her thigh or the numerous bruises on her midsection. The Harpy turned to face them and gave a sharp smile. "Hey chiot, check this out, more Icarii with demons!" she called out to someone behind her as she walked towards the pair, dragging an impressively-sized metal fist along with her, its knuckles clicking as they hit the ground. Sarynn let out a sigh and moved a pace closer to Miles, realizing her trip home was about to be made longer.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Vatusia Sun Feb 25, 2018 11:05 am

Kai took a moment to look at what the Harpy had pointed at before shaking nir head. Whatever the heck that thing was, the wolf wanted nothing to do with it. So ne followed Anira into the alley. There was no use in staying in the plaza. Anyone still alive or with a chance of living had already evacuated. Those left either had demons with them, or were beyond saving. Kai sniffed the air briefly as ne entered the alley, trying hard to ignore the scent of blood. After what seemed to be only a few seconds of walking, Anira was calling out that there were more Icarii in the alley. A soft sigh escaped the wolf’s lips as ne turned the corner. Two people stood there. One was obviously an Insectoid, the other one of the first gen. Not sure which, but could be useful to keep around.

“Anira, you might want to keep your voice down,” Kai hissed. Ne looked over the giant ape thing that was following behind the blue haired first gen. So these two had had encounters with the monsters as well. “I’m Kai, this is Anira. The green lady floating around somewhere is Sylph. There’s safety in numbers, it would be wise if we all stayed together.” Kai turned into the alley they were in and looked behind them to see if there were any signs of another of the monsters following the trio. Satisfied that there was nothing there, Kai turned back towards where the giantess had been. The sooner they all got moving, the better.

Miles let out a sigh as Sarynn commented, and laughed, on the ‘pretty lady’ comment Jueyuan somehow still had in its head. However heading to another area, even an unfamiliar ‘home’, sounded like paradise right now. Just as the super-human was about to ask which direction they should be heading, a harpy interrupted them. “Hey chiot, check this out, more Icarii with demons!" Instantly Miles tensed up. What the heck was the bird thinking, calling out so loudly when some giant thing had just walked by with a crap ton of swords? Just as he was about to let the almost nude bird have a piece of his mind, another Icarii turned the corner. “Anira, you might want to keep your voice down,” came the very displeased reply. Well at least this one had some common freaking sense. There was some brief introductions that Miles mostly ignored, a thing about safety in numbers, then the white haired Icarii looked at the alley they had just come from. Miles chuckled beneath his breath. This person was paranoid. Jueyuan let out a snort in the direction of the paranoid Icarii, eyeing him up and down. Miles turned a step towards Sarynn, never taking his eyes off the two new Icarii. “It’s up to you, wings.”

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Mon Apr 09, 2018 7:28 am

Anira's eyes shortened to a glare as Kai chastised her. "Nothing we couldn't handle, chiot," she boasted, slightly swaying to one side as the cut on her thigh flared up, sending a warm shock up her muscles. "This guy here? Could brawl with the best of 'em, I'd know." She flashed Kai a confident, teasing smile and turned back to the two confused Icarii. "Were you two lovebirds planning on going somewhere? Me and the pup here were heading to my base. I'm from the Boneyard, sure ya heard of us." The Harpy wasn't actually sure their reputation would precede herself, however, but she would never let that show. She turned to face the Moth. "Did you get one of those demons, too? We can go beat one up for ya."

The moth tensed up as Miles left the decision up to her. She worked better with set goals and this all felt new to her. Her eyes were fixated on the Harpy's wounds as she spoke, her gaze shifting to the canine ever so often. She fidgeted visibly as Anira mentioned the Boneyard. "Boneyard... The biker gang?" She'd seen the name on an independent news blog, they seemed harmless outside their threatening exterior. She gestured towards her bangle, springing it to life and calling forth the bizarre angel contained in it. It faced the group wordlessly. Sarynn took a step back, still unsure if she could trust the creature. " This is... Sandalphon, we got the demon part covered. If it's safe at your Boneyard, I don't see why not. What do you think, Miles?"

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Vatusia Tue Jun 19, 2018 6:21 pm

So the Harpy belonged to one of the local biker gangs? Usually that would mean Miles would be avoiding her, but in this particular time, it would probably be for the best to stick with someone who had connections. Especially if they were tough connections. And if the Harpy said that the Mammalian could fight too, then that was even better. “They’ll raise our odds of surviving,” Miles sniffed. There was blood on the air, even away from the chaos of the square. Wherever this Boneyard was, it sounded like it was an already established camp or hangout. That would be useful since most people would be freaking out. If it was a hideout, there might even be a place to rest without getting murdered by demons. “Jueyuan, can you go recon the roofs?” The rape monkey snorted at the question and opened it’s mouth to speak. Miles rushed out, “quietly. We don’t want to attract attention.” The ape creature just snorted and brushed against the super-human before climbing up the building with ease. The boy let out a sigh and turned towards the Harpy. He gestured for her to lead, keeping an eye on the alley and hoping the excitement was over for the rest of today. At this point, Miles would settle for it being dull for the next ten minutes.
- - - - - - - -
Anira certainly wasn’t lacking for confidence. She might even be able to hold her own in a boosting contest with the rest of the pack. Kai just shook nir head and looked at the alley behind them. It seemed they had gained two more ally’s. Good. This was one of the times that Kai knew having nir pack would be more beneficial than frustrating. What ne wouldn’t give to have just some of the other mercenaries here right now. “Whatever we do, we need to move quickly. It may have died down a bit for now, but if there are more of those things nearby then I don’t want to find out,” Kai stated. Ne couldn’t hear anything at the moment, but with the sounds of fights and screams still lingering in the air, Kai wasn’t sure ne would even be able to hear anything until it was much too close. Forget trying to scent anything. Kai was about ready to start breathing through nir mouth. Anything to stop tasting blood. “Anira, lead the way please, I’ll keep an eye on the back,” Kai instructed. Ne wasn’t about to let the two they just met take the rear. At best, they couldn’t fight, at worst. Well Kai didn’t want to think about the Icari or Human dangers lurking around after whatever that was in the plaza.

Angels and Skylines Empty Re: Angels and Skylines

Post by Patchworks Tue Aug 06, 2019 7:03 pm

"Why are we letting this up for the decision of the lamp chaser, again?" Anira chuckled, flashing a grin towards the moth as she produced the golden idol in front of them. "Geez, never mind, let's just do whatever she wants until this calms down enough for me to wrestle him." Anira leaned against the nearest wall, using her gauntlet as a makeshift cane. She'd probably throw someone through a window to get Souveraineté looked at, but frankly she'd thrown people through windows for less in the past.

Sarynn watched the Harpy's uneasy steps as her eyes darted every which way, the overload of stimuli finally wearing her down. "Are we... Sure we should wander too terribly far? No offense but everyone's pretty beat. We could probably find shelter before we head to the Boneyard. I do know of a place, a tea shop a few blocks down, by the highway access." Her wings fluttered gently as she spoke, not terribly eager to get into an argument with the other Icarii, who all seemed much more experienced than her. "Maybe your... monkey can tell us if the way is safe, but Sandalphon is definitely too noisy for this." She waved her hand, dispersing the angel into green mist. The noise seemed to definitely be moving away from them, or perhaps there weren't too many people around to make much noise.
